Cravings.

Oh my word.  I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and I love to bake.  Both of which, I'm sure, have added a little more padding around my midsection and ass.  Right now- I want to bake an apple crisp.  It's so quick, so easy and so delicious.  But, since I know my eating won't be as well as I should be this week (especially with Thanksgiving), I shouldn't bake.  I won't bake.

But what do you do when a craving strikes?  How do you prepare yourself for moments when all you want to do is tear open and eat an entire package of Hershey Kisses?  Or stop yourself from baking the apple crisp and eating the entire dish?  Have you found that you're able to satisfy your cravings in other ways?

Help me, dear readers!  How do you do it?

  1. I either will have a Rice Krispie treat/some other low calorie snack, or a stick of gum and some water.

Another thing I will do if I have a craving AND I know it's from boredom...GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. Go for a walk, run, stroll. Go to the gym and just get active. Then when I get back, if I still really want that chocolate, I don't feel so bad about caving in. Most of the time though, I don't even want it.

  2. I'm so proud of you for doing this!

I have been trying to find ways to indulge my cravings too. I make sure that I have healthy things in the house so I have a good go-to when I get snacky. My new favorite is to take some vanilla yogurt, put a little in a glass, cut up a banana and do a layer of bananas, and then a little cinnamon, and then keep layering the yogurt, bananas and cinnamon. Tasty! I also keep frozen fruits around to make smoothies.

  3. Ditto the yogurt, but I like tart so I add a teaspoon of Lemon Curd and a tablespoon of slivered almonds; they don't add a ton of calories/carbs, but it tastes fantastic.

I also try to stick with foods that have a lot of flavor. I find them to be much more satisfying.
